Clare Carver
My Formal education took place from 1991-1996 on the East Coast. This was followed by a secondary education that has been through travel. Exploring and recording during these times has been the greatest influence on my work. This travel has included the Far East, Africa, Europe, The Americas, and Australia. I have lived in many of the places I have visited, including Philadelphia, New York, Rome, Austin, South Australia and San Francisco. I currently live in the Napa Valley.
Clare's past works have frequently focused on the intersection of man and nature. She commonly pulls out an icon or dominant image that represents this to the viewer.
She has focused this observation specifically on agriculture in the past three years, painting a series of white barns that represent the archetypical California farm and now the tractor an immediate icon of American farming.
Since moving to a more rural lifestyle with her husband 6 years ago she has rekindled interest and love for farming. Farming and the associations are a deep part of our identity as Americans.
