Growing up in Israel along the Mediterranean Sea, I was influenced by the vitality of the desert and Mediterranean tones, the profound biblical history and the magnificent ancient ruins. This natural beauty and spiritual legacy are reflected in by beads and jewelry. I am a graduate from WIXO School of Design in Haifa, Israel, where I studied Fashion Design and History of Art. I managed a woman’s and children’s clothing store factory for 13 years. I also taught Fashion Design and History of Art to high school students.
After moving to the USA I lived in Yakima, Washington, where I took a weekend class in Lamp work- the art of glass beads. Recently I moved to California, and I now reside with my family in Davis, California.
I am intrigued by the tension between opaque and transparent glass. I enjoy combining colors to create natural, almost liquid effects. I never cease to be amazed by the transformation of formless molten glass into a solid beautiful bead that still emanates fluidity.
I create my beads by melting glass around a stainless steel mandrel. I then add to the bead, and manipulate, additional colors to create unique decorations. Each bead is cooled by a special process to reduce the likelihood of cracking. No two beads are the same.
My jewelry appeared in the juried show “Art to Wear” at the Larson Gallery in Yakima, Washington January 16th thru February 19th 2005. My work is available for purchase at a number of outlets including the gift shop of the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Washington, The Crocker Museum in Sacramento, California, and the Glasshouse Studio in Seattle, Washington.
